Jimmy Bullard
Bullard started his playing career off with Peterborough United in the year 2001 and established himself in the starting line up instantly. After two successful seasons with Peterborough, he signed for Wigan in the middle of the 2002-03 campaign for a well worth £275,000 and instantly established him self in the starting line up. His never say die attitude on the pitch earned him the respect of all Wigan supporters and he was influential in his midfield position for the Latics during their 2004-05 promotion winning campaign. He was outstanding in the premiership for Wigan Athletic during the 2005-06 season and helped the club reach the final of the 2006 Carling Cup. He signed for Fulham in the summer of 2006.
Matt Jackson
Jackson started his career off playing for Everton, winning the FA cup with the club in 1995 and soon moved on to play at Carrow Road for Norwich city.
In November 2001, Jackson moved to Wigan on a loan deal that soon became permanent and he was inspirational for the club. He led the Latics to promotion to the first division during the 2002-03 season and helped the club gain a further promotion during the 04-05 campaign that saw the club reach the premiership. He was in outstanding form for Wigan in the League cup during the 2005-06 season as he helped them reach the final.
Stephen McMillan
McMillan established himself in Scottish football during his eight year spell playing for Motherwell that lasted between 1993 and 2001. He moved to Wigan in March 2001 for a fee of around £550,000 and soon became a permanent fixture in the side. He was part of the Wigan team that earned promotion to the first division at the end of the 2002-03 season and gained a birth in the top flight during the 2004-05 season. He is a fantastic all round defender that can quickly go into various attacking positions.
Pascal Chimbonda
Chimbonda is a fantastic member of the French national team who started his career off playing for Le Harve between 1999 and 2003. He moved to England at the start of the 2005-06 season, starring for newly promoted Wigan Athletic. Chimbonda was outstanding for Wigan during the 05-06 season playing as either a centre back or left back for the side. His great play earned the club a top ten finish in the league and a place in the final of the league cup. In the summer of 2006 he moved on to play for Tottenham Hotspur. He was arguably Wigan’s player of the year during the 2005-06 term and was named in the ‘Premiership team of the year.’ |
